caring for Archival Prints…

All prints are created with archival pigment inks on fine art paper, most of which are made by Hahnemühle with 440 years of expertise and experience. For your limited edition prints, long-term preservation is most important therefore it is advised to take care to not expose them to direct sunlight or high humidity. Cotton fiber paper needs sufficient freedom to expand and contract due to changing humidity in the air. When framing the prints, to prevent potential buckling, warping, and distortion I would not recommend gluing or taping the print on all sides to a mounting board. Instead, it should ideally be mounted via T-hinges on the print's backside at the top with conservation tape to a lignin-free mount board. Additionally, the inked side of your print also should not be in direct contact with the glazing so I would highly recommend using a window mount, preferably of conservation quality, on the face of the print. If the desired aesthetics is to have minimal or no appearance of a border, perhaps a very narrow lignin-free window mat in the color of the frame can optically minimize that perception. Lastly, enjoy your artwork — may it enrich your daily life and bring you joy.
